SUBURBAN SYMPHONY TO CELEBRATE 70TH ANNIVERSARY AT SEVERANCE MUSIC CENTER
BEACHWOOD, OHIO- January 18, 2025: Celebrating its 70th anniversary, the Beachwood-based Suburban Symphony Orchestra will perform its fourth concert of the 2024-2025 season at Severance Music Center, on Sunday March 16 at 2:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase at the Severance box office or online at clevelandorchestra.com or through suburbansymphony.org/70th-season/
The 88-member orchestra’s program titled “Beethoven’s Glorious Ninth at Severance” will start with Jean Sibelius’s Karelia Suite, music that evokes images of the majestic beauty of Finland, and will conclude with Ludwig Van Beethoven’s iconic masterpiece, the Ninth Symphony, for orchestra and chorus, commonly known as “The Ode to Joy,”. Joining the orchestra and Music Director Domenico Boyagian performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, will be the combined choruses of the Western Reserve Chorale and West Shore Chorale. With almost 250 musicians on the Severance stage, the performance will be a testament to the power of community music and Suburban Symphony’s 70-year legacy.
In addition to this program, the remaining SSO 2024-25 season concert series includes “Symphonic Split” on January 26th 2025, and “Tchaikovsky’s Charming 2nd” on May 18, 2025 (which also features student winners of SSO’s Young Soloist competition). Concerts will be held at 3:30pm at Beachwood High School Auditorium, 25100 Fairmount Blvd, Beachwood, Ohio. Admission is free. Founded in 1955 by a group of musicians devoted to promoting fine music, the orchestra has grown both in membership and musicality and enjoys a loyal following. SSO is funded by contributions from our loyal supporters and by public grants from the Ohio Arts Council, and Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.
