Celebrating African American Voices.
Be moved and inspired by African American voices of the past and present. First, the legendary Cleveland Chorale and pianist Rodney Hubbard join SSO in an extraordinary fusion of symphony and gospel.
Then, composer William Dawson’s symphonic masterpiece takes you on a riveting journey from darkness to hope, infusing symphonic sounds with African American spirituals and complex rhythms inspired his travels to Africa. Don’t be intimidated by the unknown! This lyrical energetic piece will become a fast favorite.

Grouches beware! Your frown is no match for this program filled with lively, uplifting energy. Dvorak’s Carnival Overture epitomizes life-affirming exuberance and the breathtaking final movement of Mozart’s final symphony positively sparkles.
And in between, Clarinetist Stanislav Golovin brings his virtuosity to Mozart’s final instrumental work, a lyrical, energetic masterpiece considered to be one of the greatest works for clarinet.

As TV-bingers know, mid-season always brings the drama… and SSO is no different; the rumors are true, SSO is splitting up!
The strings will take on Dvorak’s amazing Serendade and the winds wll play the rousing Holst Suite. Our immensely talented concertmaster, McKenna Glorioso, then steps into the spotlight for Barber’s divine violin concerto.
The orchestra is back together as a fiery overture rounds out the program!

Our Anniversary Specatcular!
Our 70th anniversary concert starts with the Finnish and ends with a bang! First, Sibelius’s charming Karelia Suite evokes images of his homeland that will make even a couch potato feel a little “Finland-Curious”….
Then brace yourself for the power, the drama, and joy of Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony; an Ode to Joy, a universal anthem of brotherhood and hope and a spark of light in turbulent times. Feel the power of over 200 singers and musicians as SSO is joined by the Western Reserve Chorale and West Shore Chorale.
Only one concert hall in Cleveland can do justice to this epic work and also properly celebrate SSO’s 70 years of commitment, dedication and passion for music, so…

Our annual Young Soloist winners represent the best of the best and never fail to astound our audiences with their talent beyond their years. The thunderous applause they receive each year is a testament to their extraordinary performances.
Apologies to those who like their Tchaikovsky dark and stormy, but you’ll still love his lighter side! Feel his genuine affection for Ukraine as he weaves its folk songs throughout his delightful second symphony, culminating in an utterly charming final movement.
